“Children get to know clubs” in Bludenz

Obdorf

A day full of adventure and creativity

Once again this year, we took part in the “Children get to know clubs” vacation program in Bludenz. It was a day full of fun, creativity and new experiences for the 17 children aged 7 to 10, who visited the Obdorf school together with their supervisors. For many of the children, it was the first time they had come into contact with stamps and it was impressive to see how quickly they became enthusiastic about them.

obdorfTo begin with, the children selected 7 stamps with their favorite motifs from a large pile of donated stamps (provided by VÖPh and private individuals). This selection was the starting point for a playful introduction to the small works of art. In small groups, the children then took part in the “snap crocodile” game: in turn, each child chose a stamp and explained why they particularly liked it.

The token was then placed in the mouth of the “snapping crocodile” and a tooth was pressed down. The thrill was great, because when the crocodile snapped, the child was allowed to take all the stamps out of its mouth. At the end of the game, the child who had collected the most stamps triumphed.

After this exciting game, the children’s creativity was called for. They had to tell a story from the stamps in front of them. The stories that emerged were wonderful and varied. From adventures with grandma and grandpa, who pulled a bull out of the stables by the nose ring, to a story illustrated with stamps about a visit to the zoo (a youth exhibit) – the children’s imagination knew no bounds.

After a well-deserved snack break, the creative work continued. The children designed stamp collages and learned about the colorfulness and artistic variety of stamps. Under the motto “Works of art from small works of art”, hearts, butterflies, birds and even fire department motifs were created – including a fire engine and hose for extinguishing fires.

At the end of the day, the group awarded prizes to the three most beautiful collages. These will be used to create personalized stamps that will be sent to each child as a souvenir. This concluded an eventful Monday morning that the children will certainly remember for a long time to come.

BriefmarkenWe are already looking forward to being there again next year and discovering the fascinating world of stamps together with the children.
